Romain Piéri

Romain is one of the founding partners of FAR Avocats. He holds a Master from the Université Paris Nanterre and has been a member of the Paris bar since 2014.

Romain is working in international and European law. He has represented States before the International Court of Justice, ad hoc arbitral tribunals and the European Court of Justice. He also advises States, corporations and individuals on issues of international law and European Union law and represents them in proceedings.

Previously, Mr. Piéri was a partner of a litigation boutique in Paris. He teaches international law at the Université Paris I Sorbonne and is publishing articles and case law reviews, in particular on issues of State immunity and jurisdiction.

Representing a State in Equatorial Africa in proceedings before the International Court of Justice concerning titles relating to territorial and maritime delimitation and sovereignty over islands

Advising an African State in pre-litigation negotiations concerning the delimitation of its maritime boundaries, in particular those of its continental shelf beyond 200 nautical miles

Advising and assisting an European Union Member State in relation to the negotiation and implementation of various European Union regulations and directives relating to energy and fisheries

Advising a State on its proposal for a unilateral declaration to accompany its ratification of a regional environmental treaty

•

Assisting and representing an Asian State in two proceedings before the International Court of Justice concerning violations of a treaty of amity and commerce

•

Advising a State on its project to create a "flight information region" within the framework provided by the Convention on International Civil Aviation (Chicago Convention)

Representing a Central European State in infringement proceedings under Article 259 TFEU before the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning violations of several obligation under European Union law
